Don't Cuss at Crows (single)

by I Divorced Life

/

about

”Don't Cuss at Crows” is a cautionary tale, parading as an incomplete list of flowers, but it is continuously interrupted by hideous flashes of degradation, abuse, disappointment and ultimately a complete forfeit of control.

lyrics

A tulip and don't look back at him
A daffodil and please don't push so hard
A poppy but not too fast
A sunflower but the money up front

A bluebell and I'll wait while you freshen up
A rose and rid yourself of embarrasment
A snowdrop while looking down at your thighs weeping
A cherry blossom but not inside

The second one forcing himself inside
Even though the first one already did
An orchid while thinking about your father's flaws
An iris and could it be that you took it too far?

A peony that is you
He plucked you from the side of the road
Geranium
Geranium
Gee-Rah-Nee-Uhmm
A water lily and again he's just a cold, refreshing beverage
A lotus but don't stop until you get there

A dandelion and you're as calculating as ever
A hyacinth and where are we going today, miss?

And the rest
Flaccidly waiting
Resting
Making sure that one does not grace the other

A daisy but don't waste it all on fun
Crocus
Crocus
Don't cuss at crows
(KAW!)
